Hornets Proud as Pete Hird Joins Scotland Rugby League’s World Cup Staff
Rochdale Hornets Foundation are delighted to share the news that our Wheelchair Rugby League Team Manager, Pete Hird, has been appointed as Wheelchair Team Manager for Scotland Rugby League ahead of their World Cup campaign.
Pete has been a driving force behind the growth, professionalism, and inclusive culture of Hornets Wheelchair Rugby League. His appointment to the national setup is a testament not only to his extensive coaching experience, but also to the dedication, care, and standards he brings to every session and every player.
At Hornets, we see first-hand the impact Pete has on our squad — from developing new players with patience and encouragement to shaping a competitive, welcoming environment where everyone can thrive. To see his talent recognised on the international stage is something the whole club is incredibly proud of.
This new role will see Pete support Scotland’s preparations for the upcoming World Cup, bringing the same expertise, calm leadership, and rugby league knowledge that have become hallmarks of his work here in Rochdale.
Everyone at Rochdale Hornets Foundation wishes Pete every success as he takes on this well‑deserved opportunity. We know he’ll represent both Scotland and the Hornets family with distinction.
Congratulations, Pete. We’re right behind you. 🐝🏉
